It's actually a rocking chair. When the guy shifts his weight forward, the chair will roll on to its 'feet,' which in this case are attached to the footrest area. Then, he can just stand up.

The only thing he really has to worry about is not rolling back into full recline too fast, or he might shift the center of gravity too far back and end up mostly on his head. Still, the chair is not that high off the ground so it wouldn't tump over too quickly even in that case.

It just looks bizarre. I'm sure it's actually super-comfortable!

are you sure it won't fall? like how is the guy going to come down without making the chair sort of fall to the left side? i personally won't dare to sit on a chair like this, oh man! i actually feels scared! i'm scared of a chair!!! no!
